New Programs Launching this Fall!
This month, we’ll explain how were expanding our reach. We’ve spent years fighting period poverty in Burkina Faso, but it turns out we don’t have to look overseas to find it. It’s here, in Cobb County, in our own backyard. Join us to help support period poverty in local Georgia community.
In Burkina Faso, our workshops will also get a fresh new take on mensural health education.
New Program: Georgia Period Positivity Program
Were building a network of community drop-boxes and distribution partnerships across Cobb County to collect and distribute menstrual products with those that need them most. Georgia still taxes period products as ‘non-essential,’ with no statewide requirement for free products in schools or public facilities. Georgia lawmakers are currently considering bills to eliminate this tax.
The average monthly cost of period supplies is $20, and it puts real strain on families already living below the poverty line. While we advocate with lawmakers, were working to ease that burden ourselves, one drop-box, one workshop, one relationship at a time.
New Program: Allies in Action
In Burkina Faso, were piloting a new approach: engaging boys as menstrual health advocates. Allies in Action brings young men into the conversation on period stigma and gender equity, building the kind of community-wide support that helps break taboos for good.
