How Can You Help

By promoting Competency and Menstrual Health education for girls in Burkina Faso, we will direct them toward a better future. Our mission is to focus on issues such as child marriage, period shaming, and gender equality. Child marriage is illegal under Burkina Faso law. However, “The majority of girls are still vulnerable under traditional and religious marriages if they live in rural areas.” Girls who are provided with enough feminine products and menstrual educational workshops are more likely to stay in school, and those who graduate are less tempted into child marriage. Girl Now Woman Later, Inc. will work towards making girls comfortable with their periods and keeping them in school.

Girls in Burkina Faso are confronted with less exposure to educational opportunities during their teens and it is due to gender inequality, period poverty, forced marriage, lack of money to send girls to school and lack of valuing girls’ education.

You Can Make a Difference!

Host a Bra-fest Brunch or a Period Party

Period Supplies and Bra Drives are the simplest way to support our cause in Burkina Faso. Prepped with the feminine necessities to succeed, period products and bras keep young girls thriving in school and lead to a high-quality education.

Volunteer

As a non-profit organization, we are working to provide period products to Burkina Faso youth to ensure their completion of education. One girl at a time, we are changing the lives of underprivileged girls by giving them the necessary tools to succeed. We rely on our volunteers to perform essential tasks that help our organization flourish in Burkina Faso. If you’re a hard worker with innovative ideas who are dedicated to social change, we want to hear from you. To learn more about volunteer opportunities, click here.

Host a Drive / Sewing Reusable Pads

We are collecting sewing pads/feminine pads that we’ll distribute across Burkina Faso to those in need. To do this, we need support from volunteers to help us. Click this link to find out more information. If you are a seamstress, you can help us to make comfortable sewing pads for school girls. This is one opportunity for you or your community to give back to African youth by donating feminine products or undergarments, or reusable sewing pads.

Social Fundraisers

Take matters into your own hands and start a social fundraiser among your family, friends, and colleagues! After setting a financial goal, advocate for Burkina Faso’s underserved female youth via social media outlets and collect the proceeds. To donate, please email us at info@girlnowwomanlater.org

Who Says Stitch? / Sewing Reusable Pads

We seek a world without the pink tax, which is just another obstacle prohibiting female adolescents and teens from accessing the care they need. This is why we are collecting sewing pads that we’ll distribute across Burkina Faso to those in need. To do this, we need support from a seamstress who can help us to make comfortable pads for school girls. This is one opportunity for you or your community to give back to African youth by donating feminine products or undergarments.

High School Ambassadors

Our organization’s success starts in the classroom, even right here in the United States. Whether you’re an education leader looking to get students involved in international community service or a student passionate about helping others, you can become an assigned high school ambassador to raise awareness of rampant period poverty in Burkina Faso. You’ll have the opportunity to host local period product and bra drives, organize small fundraisers, and post about your efforts to contribute to our cause.
