Frequently Asked Questions

How do I start hosting a period product drive?

Thank you! Please register your drive by filling out the e-mail form below to tell us about your event. Not sure where to start? That’s ok. We’ll follow up with you and set up a call with the GNWL team. We will provide you tips and resources to get started.

How do the items I collect get sent to Burkina Faso?

Every few months, we arrange to send items on a container ship from the U.S. to Burkina Faso. Our team in Burkina Faso sorts products and prepares goodie bags for the girls attending our workshops.

Do I need to partner with a big group to host a donation drive, or can I just plan one with a few friends? Is there a minimum number of items I need to collect?

We accept donations from groups big and small. We’re continuing to expand the number of girls at each of our workshops, so every drive counts! It might be more impactful to plan your drive with a club on campus, your local girl scout troop, religious institution, or community group to increase the reach of your donation drive.

What should I prepare for my donation drive?

We’ll supply you with our GNWL brochure, donation QR code for our website, and support materials like social media post templates and posters. We’re here to help.

Is there a better time of year for my drive?

No. Any time of year is perfect for a drive. We’re always planning our next menstrual health workshop in Burkina Faso. You might find that an end of school year or summertime drive gives you time to collect and ship your items to us for fall drives, or a holiday drive prepares us for spring workshops.

How do I spread the word about my drive?

Get the word out early and often. We suggest you share via group text, social media (Facebook, Instagram, LinkedIn) e-mail, or even a good old fashioned phone call. We have a social template we will share with you, and we’ll cross-promote your event on our channels. Flyers are another great way to advertise.

How long should my drive be?

We’ve worked with organizations that have hosted drives for a few hours or a few weeks. You can run a table in a populated area or set up a donation box in an easily accessible area, like a library. Some groups like to organize their drive around an event, like Giving Tuesday,International Menstrual Hygiene Day (May 28th), or a day of service.

What should I collect for my drive?

We ask for menstrual care and general hygiene products to distribute in our workshops.
Individually wrapped: Menstrual pads, tempons, pantiliners*
NEW: Menstrual cups/discs like diva cups, period underwear, packs of unused cotton underwear, deodorant*
SECONDHAND or GENTLY USED: bras, bralettes, and sports bras*

* The reason we collect these items is they are imported and priced extremely high in Burkina Faso, making them unaffordable. See our video for more information.

Should I set a goal for my drive?

Yes, keep your goal realistic and S.M.A.R.T (Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, and Time-bound). Pick a number like 200 pads or 25 deodorants you want to collect, and work toward that goal in the length of your drive.

Remember, you’ll also need space to store and sort your items to mail to us.

Should I take photos of my drive?

Yes, be proud of your event. We love to thank our donors and mention events in our newsletters and socials. You might even end up on this page!

Where do I send products after my drive?

Please box your materials and mail them to us.
1. Our address via USPS mail
Girl Now Woman Later
PO BOX 1112 MARIETTA, GA 30061,
2. Ask us for a private address to mail via UPS or FedEx.
