Why Girl Now Woman Later?

Mission: Girl Now Woman Later is on a mission to educate girls about menstrual health and reduce period shame. GNWL also works to increase the graduation rate for middle school girls and high school girls in Burkina Faso. We strongly believe that an educated girl will develop into an emancipated woman. Vision: A world in which a girl’s education is not abandoned or taken away because of her gender, where she can freely pursue her education, become skilled at anything that she desires, still be a girl, and then grow into a woman.

We hold these values dearly to our hearts:

  • Inclusion: We are committed to including the school community and boys in the conversation on gender equality.
  • Respect: We are committed to treating everyone and menstruation with dignity and civility.
  • Equal Opportunity and Sustainability: A sustainable community does not exclude one gender in favor of the other. GNWL pledges to make female employment part of our mission by providing life skills, making girls economically independent upon graduation.
  • Integrity: We are accountable & transparent in managing the organization to maintain public trust.
